Medicines for Europe
Medicines for Europe began over 20 years ago as the European Generics Medicines Association (EGA) with the goal of representing the emerging generic medicines industry. Currently, the association represents generic, biosimilar, and value-added industries, which together supply the largest share of medicines across Europe.
Viatris is involved in all Medicines for Europe sector groups and chairs the Generic Medicines and Value-Added Medicines groups. Legacy company Mylan held the presidency several times, most recently from 2015 to 2017. Viatris adheres to the Medicines for Europe Code of Conduct.
AmCham EU
AmCham EU speaks for American companies committed to Europe on trade, investment and competitiveness issues. It aims to ensure a growth-orientated business and investment climate in Europe. AmCham EU facilitates the resolution of transatlantic issues that impact business and plays a role in creating better understanding of EU and US positions on business matters. Viatris became a member in 2023.
US Chamber of Commerce
The Chamber of Commerce of the United States is the world’s largest business organisation. It aims to support communities, leading industry associations and global corporations that innovate and solve for the world’s challenges, to the emerging and fast-growing industries that are shaping the future. Since founding, the U.S. Chamber has advocated for policies that help businesses create jobs and grow economy. Viatris became a member in 2020.
AMR Industry Alliance
The AMR Industry Alliance is one of the largest private sector coalitions in healthcare, with over 100 biotech, diagnostics, generics and research-based pharmaceutical companies and associations joining forces to provide sustainable solutions to curb antimicrobial resistance. As a founding member of the AMR Industry Alliance, we are committed to partnering across industry to collectively advance initiatives addressing AMR. These efforts have led to progress in advancing science-based approaches to help manage the impact of antimicrobial manufacturing, develop initiatives to enhance antibiotic stewardship and improve sustainable access to appropriate antibiotics.
The Pharmaceutical Supply Chains Initiative
The Pharmaceutical Supply Chains Initiative (PSCI) is a nonprofit organisation that champions better social, environmental, and economic outcomes in global pharmaceutical and healthcare supply chains. PSCI brings together members to define, establish and promote responsible supply chain practices focused on human rights and environmental sustainability. Viatris is aligned with PSCI’s mission and became a member in 2021.
TB Alliance
TB Alliance is a non-profit partnership dedicated to the discovery and development of new, faster-acting and more affordable tuberculosis treatments.
Since 2019, we have collaborated with TB Alliance as its global commercialization partner for the first drug specifically approved to treat multi-drug resistant tuberculosis. In 2021, we made that treatment available in 22 European countries via a partnership with Tanner Pharmaceuticals.
Direct Relief
Direct Relief is a nonprofit humanitarian organisation that provides emergency medical assistance and disaster relief in the United States and internationally. Through this and other organisations, we have donated over 1,5 billion doses of medicine since 2007.
Trade Associations
Across Europe, Viatris is part of 76 trade associations in 28 countries. Through these memberships, we advocate for policies that support the needs of patients while better enabling public health systems to function.
